Here we have a vibrant bunch of solid, lead crystal Madeira juice or wine glasses from Tiffin-Franciscan; two in the Cornsilk Yellow colour and two in the Plum Purple colour. These vintage glasses are circa 1970s and have such a fun, colourful vibe! Each glass measures 4-3/4inches in height by 2-5/8inches diameter at the rim and 2-1/8 inches diameter at the base. The perfect size glass or goblet for juice or a splash of wine.
Pictured as a set of four with two Cornsilk Yellow and two Plum Purple; however, there are multiple options for you to choose from if you would prefer only one colour or both together. There are 4 available in total and 2 of each colour.
Condition: These glasses are in excellent preloved, vintage condition with very little evidence of wear, some minor imperfections which are characteristic of the age and construction (you can see in the photos the colour varies between different glasses even in the same colour, more noticeable with the Plum glasses and they all have a hand-crafted feel in that they are all a little individually unique in the same pattern.)

Tiffin Glass from The Glass Encyclopedia
"A short explanation of Tiffin Glass:
Tiffin Glass was made in the city of Tiffin from 1889, when A J Beatty and Sons opened their new glass factory in the city, until 1984 when the last of a series of owners finally closed the glassworks. In the early years the company merged with US Glass (1892), then suffered a disastrous fire in 1893 followed by rebuilding the factory in 1894. The city of Tiffin were highly supportive of the glassworks, having given A J Beatty & Sons free gas for the first five years plus a cash and land grant worth some $50,000. To persuade US Glass to rebuild the factory in 1894 they gave them a further two years free gas.
Initially a pressed glass factory making tumblers at the rate of half a million a year, they soon diversified into a wide range of glassware and also into blown glass. Until 1927 their glass was identified as US Glass with a paper label showing USG. From 1927 onwards all US Glass output was identified as Tiffin glass with a paper label similar to the one shown left. Tiffin were such a successful operation that they were to subsidise other plants in the US Glass consortium, and whilst others closed down they continued to operate throughout the Depression years. In 1938 the headquarters of US Glass was transferred to Tiffin. By the late 1950s the consortium was in financial problems which led to bankruptcy in 1962; Tiffin Glass was saved when four former employees bought the company and re-named it Tiffin Art Glass Company in 1963. Over the years from then until final closure in 1984 the company was bought and sold several times. Tiffin were especially famous for their beautiful stemware, their depression era pattern tableware, and their postwar "Modern" glass based on Scandinavian designs."

Care instructions
Most vintage and antique glassware should be hand washed only and not in the dishwasher; especially any pieces with graphics or colourful patterns, for example Pyrex, Fire King, Glasbake, Corelle, drinkware, etc. Dishwashers can dull the finish on these unique pieces and cause premature wear to the surface and patterns or cause what is known as DWD or Dishwasher Damage which is irreversible. It's always better to be safe and wash by hand if you can.
Add some dish washing liquid into a sink or basin and add warm water. Placing a towel underneath can help to avoid breakage. It is best to use a damp cloth for any pieces with hand-painted decorations to preserve the art as even regular hand-washing can degrade these over time.

If you would like to coordinate a local pick-up in Durham Region you may either purchase the items and send a note after the fact to request a pick-up and we will then refund your shipping costs; or you can send a message prior to the order to request the local pick-up and we can remove the shipping costs on the items you wish to purchase.
